One question that comes up time and time again as an affiliate is, “How do I sell more bundles?”
Should I write multiple blog posts? Go live on Facebook? Share my favorite bonuses from the bundle on Instagram stories?
While all of these elements can work together to create a great bundle sale, most Ultimate Bundles affiliates find that their email lists are THE most effective tool in driving sales.
In fact, according to research, you’re 40 times more likely to acquire a new customer by email than by Facebook or Twitter.
This has certainly been my experience, and I’m sure most Ultimate Bundles affiliates would agree.
The truth is: If you want to sell more bundles, you need to focus on growing your email list. But how?
How to Grow Your List (and Sell More Bundles) with SEO
One of the most popular ways for bloggers to grow their email lists is by offering readers something valuable for free in exchange for people’s email addresses.
This is often simply a printable PDF (such as these Free Christian Printables), but you can offer anything from mini-courses to online challenges to free coaching calls — whatever your readers would find valuable!
Then, once you have an enticing offer, you need to get it in front of as many of your ideal readers as possible — knowing that a certain percentage of them will sign up for your email list in order to get your free offer.
While many bloggers promote their email opt-in freebies on their websites and on social media (and I do too), my favorite place to find new readers right now is through Google search.
After all, when people are on social media, they’re typically just scrolling, looking for anything that catches their eye. But when people are searching for something specific on Google, they’re more invested and much more likely to take action to solve their problem or get the information they need.
Here’s how this process works for me — and how you can make it work for you!
1. Find High Traffic / Low Competition Topics to Write About in Your Niche
My website, EquippingGodlyWomen.com, is dedicated to helping Christian women be ALL IN in faith and family.
Therefore, it doesn’t make sense for me to talk about how to start a blog or how to make money from home as an Ultimate Bundles affiliate. That’s not what my site is about, and that’s not the type of content my readers come to me for.
Instead, I look for topics my readers will care about, like the best Bible study apps or my favorite websites for Christian women, that will also do well in search. Yes, you can certainly write an Ultimate Bundles review post, but you don’t have to. You really just want to focus on writing articles that serve your reader.
Pro tip: Don’t write articles just to make money. Write articles that truly serve your reader.
You can find tons of great article ideas by paying attention to what your target readership is talking about on social media, in forums, in your comment sections, or in the emails they send to you. You can also Google one topic and see what related topics, phrases, or suggestions also pop up.
Brainstorm a list of ideas. What are you readers interested in? What questions do they have? What do they want to know more about?
Then do a little research to see which topics people are actually searching for (or not).
Personally, I will make a list of as many potential keywords and keyword phrases as I can possibly think of, then dump the entire list into Google Keyword Planner under “get search volume and forecasts.” From there, I select the “Historical metrics” tab, and sort by average monthly searches. This gives me an estimate of how many people search for each keyword or keyword phrase each month.
For example, I can see that “best Christian podcasts” gets between 1,000-10,000 searches every month while “top Christian podcasts” only gets 100-1,000 searches a month — that’s a huge difference for such an easy tweak!
You’ll have to experiment a bit to see which numbers are “good” or “bad” for your niche (every niche is different), but this information can definitely help you determine which keywords you might want to target over others.
Ideally, you’re looking for keywords that get a lot of traffic that you have a good chance of ranking for. If a particular keyword has tons of traffic, but you Google it and find a ton of HUGE sites already have articles on the same exact topic, you may want to keep looking until you find something else.
2. Optimize Your Articles for SEO
Once you’ve chosen a main keyword or keyword phrase (and possibly a couple supporting keywords), you’re ready to write a fantastic article.
Don’t worry about stuffing the keywords in as many times as humanly possible. Instead, focus on writing a really quality article that does a great job answering your readers’ questions. Then make sure your keywords are included.
At a minimum, you’ll want to make sure your keywords are included:
- In the Title
- In the URL
- In the Metadescription
- In your Image alt-text
- In the first 250 (or so) words of the article
- In an article subheading or two (within h2 or h3 tags)
- Multiple times throughout the article
Again, don’t keyword stuff. You don’t want the average reader to notice “Hey, she’s using this same word a lot of times in this post….” You want it to sound completely natural.
Bonus tip: If your article is really well written and very useful, you probably want to link to it from other blog posts on your site, share it on social media, and even ask other bloggers if they’d be willing to link to your article too. All of these actions can directly and indirectly help your article perform better in Google as well.
3. Include Relevant Opt-In Freebies in Your Post
Of course, don’t forget that while your ultimate goal is to serve your reader, you want to make sure your content brings in more email subscribers as well!
The best way to do this is to offer a great email freebie people can sign up for right in the post (without needing to click away to a different page).
You can promote your email freebie:
- In a banner at the top of your site
- In a time-delayed pop-up
- In a call-out box below your site’s header, above the blog post
- In a call-out box within the blog post itself
- In a call-out box underneath your blog post, before your comments section
- In your sidebar
- Or by linking to it within your post
Keep in mind that while pop-ups are often seen as annoying, the reason so many bloggers use them is because they really do work!
If you are only sharing your opt-in offer in your sidebar or at the bottom of your post, your reader may never see it. Instead, you want to feature your email opt-in as predominantly as possible (without being too annoying) so your reader notices it and signs up.
4. Offer Incredible Value, Establish Trust, and Build Authority
And finally, once people join your email list (and even before this), you really want to work hard to offer incredible value, establish trust and build authority.
If the ONLY reason you are offering Ultimate Bundles is because you want your readers’ money, your readers will be able to tell and they won’t buy from you.
Instead, establish yourself as a trusted thought leader who truly cares about your reader and wants what’s best for them. Tell them about the bundles because you truly believe in them, think they’re an incredible value, and believe they will help your reader — not just to make a quick buck.
Commit to creating great content and to showing up for your readers with great recommendations, and they will begin to like and trust you.
Then, the next time a bundle sale comes around, you may be surprised how many new sales you get!
